![]() Congratulations to Joan on finishing her beagle pup Ch. Everwind's Tryst in the Park.![]() New Champion "Tristan" is a half-brother to this year's Westminster Best in Show winner Uno. There will be NO winter series TEAM PENNING in April!! The April 26 date has been canceled and has been rescheduled for June 7. March and June shows are USTPA affiliated. June barrel camp is FULL! There are still openings for July 7-11. Photos from Feb 23rd show can be viewed HERE. Penny, our photographer, had to leave the show early, so she was only able to get photos from the first few classes, and is in the process of transferring her website to a new server so she is unable to post the photos there right away. She apologizes for not offering her usual service, but you can email her to order prints.
Our hearts go out to the Trace and Whitling families in their time of loss. Arnie Trace and Laurie Whitling, familiar faces at all Everwind events and long time members of our ranch family, lost their parents in a car accident on December 30. Arnold and Cindy were loving parents, grandparents and dear friends. We simply cannot express how shocked and saddened we are over this terrible news. This tragedy is made all the worse as Meggin and Arnie also lost their beloved Corgi, Tater Tot, in the accident and are dealing with serious health problems with their horse, Buster as well.
Arnie and Meggin, Laurie, Stephan, Stephen Jr and Adrian, you are in our prayers and may the Lord give you the strength you need during this most difficult time. If you wish to send condolences, please email me and I will pass on the Trace’s mailing address.
Current points standings are up for both the Team Penning and Barrel Racing Winter Series. Please check over the points carefully, and Email Linda if you have any questions at all. Please note that for the Barrel Races, only those horse/rider combinations that are signed up for points will be posted.
Be sure to check out Penny Photo for pictures from this year's rodeo. They are under the Gallery. Jot down your favorite photo numbers and order prints from her to keep her coming back for our events! What a huge success this year’s rodeo was! The weather was perfect, the stands were full, the contestants and livestock on top of their game. It takes a lot of work to produce such an event and it cannot be done alone. I want to thank all who helped make it a success in any way and give special thanks to Sherri Finch and Mary Beth Woodworth, my tireless assistants who went from getting my horse ready for me to secretaries and beyond. I couldn't have done it without you! To Linda for all her help with music, paperwork, and more. To Larry for sound, to Foo who always helps with the horses and Holly for getting my rope horse ready. Those that handled gates, stripping chutes, goats, flags, cattle, barrels, etc. were most appreciated. Brenda Wurst, Cindee Snyder, Jack Morgan, Dan & Teresa Nizzi, John K., Eric Scouten, Clint Keller, Ellen Keller and more were a part of that group. If I missed you, please forgive me. You are none less appreciated. Kaitlynn Stalheim worked from early morning until all were gone after the roping that followed the rodeo, tirelessly putting up and cleaning up items. Some things wouldn't have gotten done without her. During the rodeo she worked with the steers and calves. What a helper! Our own crew, Mike, Chris, Bruce, handled much and it was done superbly. To Stephan Whitling, Owen Nizzi, and others who helped push cattle; thank you.~Joan
Barrel Camp - June
What a great week we had and what a great bunch of people we had from six to almost 60 to work with. Mary Beth did her usual outstanding job with the food preparation. She had family with her this year, her daughter, Melissa and Melissa's mother-in-law, Chris, that helped in the kitchen resulting in us enjoying getting to know them and watch them work together. What a crew and what an outstanding job they did! Thank you all!!! I complained all week about the weight I knew I was gaining! The girls (and boy) were great to work with and be around. Each had a willing and teachable spirit and made my work easy. All were willing to pitch in and help out if needed and we had some extra help with the Keller girls spending a few days with us. A special thanks must go to Foo for her tireless energy and help in so many ways whenever asked. What a gem. Many new friends were made during the week. God blessed us with safety and great weather for the camp for which we are grateful. As always, drill team is a highlight for many and Linda did her usual outstanding job teaching and directing it. The group performed it flawlessly at the fun show Friday night. Becky was a tremendous help with the pole bending part of the days and could be heard coaching "her" students during the show. :) I just want to say thank you to the parents who entrusted me with their children for the week. I do not take the responsibility lightly and I will always do my best to maintain that trust. I hope to see all of you back next year and I'm looking forward to July's camp in just over a week! ~ Joan Bill and Joan's grandson Michael Wurst graduated this year from the American School of
